RSD Progresive Challenge Part Two Finale

Team A started the month's Progressive Challenge and you can go look at that post here if you are so inclined.  In that post you were invited to email Monique for your freebie if you had taken part in May's part one. If you haven't done so already - get your skates on. This is the half way mark before the winner of that free digi (of your choice) is chosen.
Have you seen the new images that have hit the Zibbet store so far this month? WOW!! I think Rick has been working overtime. Do yourself a favour and check out the shop.

So here's my contribution as part of Team B using Mr Tea with Sentiment ( he is also available without sentiment ). I decided to do some thing completely outside of my comfort zone and colour the image with Watercolours on 300gsm watercolour card. Am happy at my first attempt but don't really know yet if this medium is going to be a stable go to in my colouring arsenal. Maybe a little more practice Eh !!!. After colouring I ripped around the image and inked the edges. This was then matted onto a square card which had already been layered up using some co-ordinating coloured cardstock. An organza bow and some gems were added to finish.

Inspiration with Smudgy Antics. June Challenge :- Anything Goes with a twist.

For my DT Inspiration today for Smudgy Antics  I am sharing with you today a Pocket sketch book using Quoth the Raven set in Real Rubber. My twist on this is the three colours I chose of Black, Grey and White. I started by constructing the pocket sketchbook using 300gsm black cardstock. Background papers were then matted and layered and attached to the front and inside covers. The focal image from the set was then stamped onto white super smooth stamping card and trimmed leaving a narrow border and attached to the front cover. I then printed out the Anatomy Skull image and attached to a silver cameo bezel and set in resin. This was then attached to the flap which creates the closure with black organza ribbon behind. The inside pages were then measured and cut to size and attached to the spine on the inside covers. A fun little project which I hope has inspired you today.

Skull Appreciation Day Blog Hop.

Do you love creating amazing projects that showcase skully goodness?
We will be celebrating Skull Appreciation Day 2015 by featuring handmade projects that spotlight the much-loved cranium.
So hop on the blog train the blog roll is shown below at the end of this post and marvel in all that has been created and appreciate the wonders of all that is cranium AKA Skull.........

For my contribution I decided to make some sketch books from scratch. I cut my sketch paper to size and folded four signatures of four pages for each book. Which is 24 pages in total. I then created the background for my sketchbook covers in photoshop and printed out onto 300gsm cardstock. I then distressed and aged the covers further with distress Ink. Then Stamped each sketchbook cover with real rubber stamps. The covers were then sealed with micro glaze to protect and waterproof against any accidental spillages. The covers were then bound to the signature pages with staples on the spine. Quite pleased how these turned out and will come in quite handy on my travels.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and read your next stop is Teresa.

June-Bugs, Gems and GewGaws with HDH.

It's that time again for our monthly Challenge over at Haunted Design House

This months theme is :

"June-bugs, gems and gewgaws"
so we'd like you to feature insects/bugs (moths, spiders and creep-crawlies are also ok), OR gems and jewels, OR gewgaws in your creations this month. (A gewgaw is something showy and flamboyant that has little or no intrinsic value but serves a decorative purpose.) And remember to keep it creepy, dark or macabre - we don't want cute and sparkly butterflies here! .

For my contribution I decided to alter a journal more in the way to my liking. I used a whole lotta DecoArt Media products to bring this together. The supplies list is as follows :

DecoArt Media Texture Sand Paste.
DecoArt Media Ultra Matte Varnish.
DecoArt Media Black Gesso.
DecoArt Media Crackle Paint.
DecoArt Media Antiquing Cream in Black.

DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics in :-

Metallic Gold.
Paynes Grey.
Quinacrodone Gold.
Medium Grey Value 3.
Ebony Lamp Black.
Titan Buff.

I started by embossing some 300gsm black cardstock to cover the journal covers attached to the journal and gave front and back covers a coat of DecoArt Media Ultra Matte Varnish to protect. I then mixed media crackle paint with some titan buff media fluid acrylic ( yes these are fully mixable ) to create a nice cream colour and applied to a piece of chipboard which had first  been  given a coat of Media fluid acrylic in black. Whilst this was drying and waiting for those lovely cracks to appear I cast my skull centrepiece. Whilst waiting for my skull  to set I embossed a piece of chipboard and gave it a rust treatment as shown by Andy Skinner HERE.  I die cut and embossed my celtic medallion using a spell binders die. I then attached brass corners to the base chipboard which had now dried and was covered in lovely crackle YUM.  I then gave the skull a coat of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in black. Painted the helmet in Metallic gold and once dry gave a coat of black Antiquing cream which was wiped back when dry to give an aged and tarnished metal effect. The skull was then dry brushed sparingly using the medium grey Value 3 to add some definition to the piece. This was then mounted onto some antique embellishments and a couple of gemstones added. All the layers were then matted and added to the front cover of the journal. Quite pleased how this turned out.

We'd love you to play along with us over at Haunted Design House - you have a whole month and can enter up to three projects. So do come and join myself and the Minions and create something dark and creepy and glorious .
